Cancer patients receiving chemotherapy will need devices to deliver the chemotherapy in a large vein inside the body to avoid damage caused by the chemotherapeutic agent to the small veins of the arms and hands.

This device is called a Port-A-Cath, which can be placed safely at our Dar Al Khebra center under local anesthesia.

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt or transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunting (commonly abbreviated as TIPS ) is an artificial channel within the liver that establishes communication between the inflow portal vein and the outflow hepatic vein.

This is a  life-saving procedure to improve blood flow and prevent hemorrhage in patients with severe liver dysfunction.

Chronic back pain is a major problem for many people.

Using image guided techniques long standing back pain cases can be managed by injection of drugs to relief pain and thus ensure a better quality of life

Liver cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

Hepatic Neoplasms may be primary which results from Liver Cirrhosis or secondary to other primary neoplasms elsewhere in the body.

Intreventional procedures that are used to treat liver cancer cases are: Radio-frequency Ablation, Microwave Ablation, Trans-arterial Chemo-embolization and Trans-arterial radio-embolization which are all performed  at Dar Al Khebra Inteventional Radiology Center.

These techniques has revolutionized the treatment of Liver Cancer and in cases of primary Liver cancer they represent the main line of treatment in the majority of cases. While in secondary liver neoplasms they are used as an adjuvant to the other treatment modalities.

Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) is a non surgical procedure that is performed at Dar Al Khebra with high successful results.

It is a safe and highly effective procedure that shrinks the prostate gland dramatically. This helps older men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to get relieved from the common symptoms caused by prostate enlargement

Compared to surgical management, PAE has the following advantages:

  • This is a one day procedure which is performed without surgery under local anesthesia These is no need for general anesthesia which usually present a risk especially for older patients.
  • There are no post operative complications which might arise when the patient undergo surgery.
  • Patients don’t need post operative urinary characterization.
  • Patients may return back to their home in the same day of the procedure and get to their normal activities quickly.

Varicocele are common in men as they affect around 15% of men’s population. Patients suffering from varicocele has the complaint of:

  • Dull pain in the scrotum
  • A swelling in the scrotum
  • Visibly enlarged veins in the scrotum

The major concern about varicocele veins is about fertility (ability to have children) as they are present in 35% of men with primary infertility.

How Varicocele Veins are managed at Dar Al Khebra Center?

We perform Catheter Directed Embolization which is safe and highly effective non-surgical procedure performed under image guidance . The procedure is done with catheters and coils to close the varicocele veins and shrinks them down.

Catheter directed embolization is done to improve the fertility of men who are affected by varicocele and impaired sperm count. It is performed under local anesthesia and patients usually return back to their homes on the same day of the procedure.

Varicose veins are among the most common conditions affecting people.

Vein ablation is a minimally invasive performed that is performed using ultrasound guidance. After applying local anesthetic to the skin over the vein, one of our clinical team at Dar Al Khebra Center  inserts a catheter into the abnormal vein. Through this catheter, laser energy is applied to the inside of the vein to seal it closed.

Women diagnosed with uterine fibroids have a major concern about surgical options for treatment. This include hysterectomy (surgery to remove the entire uterus), or myomectomy.

For those looking to preserve their uterus and to avoid surgery, there is another choice to consider which is Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE).

Uterine fibroid embolization is performed at Dar Al Khebra by our clinical team with great success.

The procedure is safe and performed under local anesthesia and patients can return back home at the same day It involves the placement of small catheter which reaches the blood supply of the fibroid  and then the injection of small beads within these blood vessels . This blocks the blood supply and cause the fibroids to shrink.

Patients benefit from this procedure immediately as pains associated with fibroids are relieved , the fibroid itself shrinks from 30-to 50% in few months
